Founded in the year 1998 and incorporated as a cooperative society, the Crewel ICS Society, headquartered in Batergram, Kupwara, is one of the leading organizations in Kashmir focused on promoting traditional handicrafts. It serves over 2000 artisans and craftsmen across Kupwara, working with Kashmiri handicraft items. The society was established to empower local artisans to take on the challenges of production, procurement, processing, and marketing of authentic Kashmiri handicrafts in both domestic and international markets. Owned and operated by the artisans, for the artisans, Crewel ICS Society supports sustainable livelihoods and preserves the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir.

Sozni Work

Sozni, also known as needlepoint embroidery, is a fine and delicate embroidery technique that originated in Kashmir. This intricate craft involves the use of a small, fine needle to create intricate patterns on shawls, garments, and home décor items.
